Luís Pereira Miguel is the co-founder of [the Pereira Miguel Arquitectos studio, which is engaged in a sustained practice in the areas of architecture, urbanism, 3D and architectural research.

He presents at ESAD the lecture Vazios Comerciais – O Que São e Alguns Exemplos. In the world of spaces which are designed to accommodate commercial uses, a lot of them have not been designed primarily for that role, resulting in opportunities that arise for several random reasons. We can name these spaces vazios comerciais (commercial emptinesses). Once discovered their latent commercial characteristics, that appear to us creatively, is possible to launch new business areas. The lecture presented at ESAD follows this theme, illustrating this thesis with several projects developed and implemented at the studio.

Luís Pereira Miguel studied architecture in Oporto, Cottbus (Germany) and Lisbon, where he graduated in 1997 from the Universidade Lusíada. He has a Masters in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association London, following the Masters of Design Research Laboratory. He was an assistant of Projecto IV at Universidade Independente in Lisbon from 2002 to 2004 and worked with the Associação Empresarial de Portugal as e-trainer.

Until 2004 he integrated several studios of architecture, where it is highlighted the ones from Eduardo Trigo de Sousa, Contemporânea (Manuel Graça Dias + Egas José Vieira) and Contacto Atlântico (André Caiado). He is currently Chairman of the Conselho Regional de Admissão Sul da Ordem dos Arquitectos.

In 2005 he co-founded Pereira Miguel Arquitectos and in 2007 this studio is selected for the top10 of Portuguese architects under 40 years, by the international website newitalianblood. In 2008 he won the international competition ColorsDesigner promoted by Poli.design and Benetton, leading the studio to work for the brand on concepts stores in Russia and Italy. The studio's work has been the target of numerous national and international publications, as well as in exhibitions, conferences and television programmes.
