
François Burkhardt is an historian and critic of design and architecture. He teaches at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna, at the Hochschule der Künste Saar Bildenden of Saarbrücken, and at the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Florence. As director, he was the responsible for the Kunsthaus in Hamburg, the Internationales Design Zentrum in Berlin and the Centre de Création Industrielle / Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. In his career he was also director of several magazines, such as Traverse, Domus,Crossing and Rassegna, as well as curator of numerous exhibitions and international congresses. He is also a consultant to various companies and institutions in Italy, Austria, France and Germany, and author of several publications on art, design and architecture.
Linde Burkhardt began her career as a painter, after finishing her studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich, at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and at the Hochschule der Kunst in Hamburg Bildenden. She founded the group Urbanes Design with François Burkhardt in Hamburg. She was responsible for several playgrounds projects, was curator of exhibitions, including "Gioco and Realta" at Documenta 5 in Kassel, and "Abitare coi Bambini", promoted by the Senate of Berlin. She teaches Artistic Design at the Fachhochschule in Bielefeld. Note also the various radio and television programmes on architecture and design in Germany, and projects in many areas of design, such as carpets for Driade or ceramics and steel pieces for Alessi. In 2006 she presented A Quattro Mani at the Mendini studio, a collection of ceramic objects drawn with Alessandro Mendini, at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
