David Phillips is a designer living and working in London. His work bridges the area between graphic design and architecture. His research interest is in the investigation of the relationship between architecture, meaning especially in relation to religious buildings as well as the role that materials, construction methods and forms can play in the expression of didactic and narrative themes within the built-environment.
Having originally trained as a fine artist, he graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1985; subsequently he also studied architecture. He has extensive teaching experience, and since 2000 he has taught information design at the London College of Communication. He likes poetry, gardening and football.
