
Within the scope of ESAD Open Talks, Pedro Carvalho de Almeida, Designer and Lecturer at the University of Aveiro, presents the conference 'Visual Conversations – From Image Mapping to Structured Written Content'.
Pedro Carvalho de Almeida is a Designer and Assistant Professor of Design in the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro. He has a PhD in Design from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, with a post-doctorate funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council of the United Kingdom. He has teaching experience at prestigious institutions such as Central Saint Martins, ENSCI-Les Ateliers and The Glasgow School of Art. His research area covers strategic design, design management, product semantics, visual research methodologies and contextual studies.
He is recognised for his contribution to Brand Archaeology as a field of study and methodological approach. In recent years, his research has explored the revival of disappeared Portuguese trainer brands through contextually-based footwear design interventions. In 2023, he curated the exhibition "Sapatilhas: Marcas Portuguesas do Estado Novo ao virar do milénio" at Casa do Design.
On 29 January, at 2.30pm, he will present the conference "Visual conversations - From image mapping to structured written content", in ESAD's auditorium, as part of the programme of lectures and intensive workshops for the Master's in Communication Design.
