Ivan Garcia, graduated in Fashion Design by ESAD, presents his work once again at ModaLisboa's Sangue Novo platform, which aims to promote the work developed by young designers graduated in national and international fashion schools. In 2021, Ivan Garcia was one of the 5 finalists of the competition, with the collection Neo Hominidae.
The collection The Last Prefix, is inspired by the current visual study on the condition of the human species, in memory of Neohominidae, reinforcing how the traces and the inevitable regeneration of matter implement the algorithmic relationship between all the physical character of living existence. The Last Prefix reflects an intersection of eschatological thoughts, among which the human being is redirected to an infamous position in the chain of survival.
Still on a planned, silhouetted modelling methodology, the body is complemented by matric extensions. (…) Surfaces are developed in the exploration of bacterial and botanical cultures. The same communities exemplify the volatility of the materic presence in different phases. Thus, in constant transfiguration and appropriation of consumed(re)organisms, a metaphysical dialogue of an interdependent plot is evoked.

The genesis of the Sangue Novo competition is creativity and the exploration of new concepts and directions for Fashion Design. The collections of the finalist candidates are presented to the press and the public in a collective show integrated in the official calendar of ModaLisboa - Lisbon Fashion Week.
Ivan Garcia's presentation will take place on March 11, at 18:00, at Factory Lisbon, in Lisbon.
