Ivan Garcia, student of Fashion Design, is one of the finalists selected by Sangue Novo 2021, ModaLisboa's platform for the promotion of the work developed by young designers graduated in national and international fashion schools.
The collection Neo Hominidae, based on Darwin's theory of species evolution, portrays an existentialist perspective, questioning the positioning of the human being as an earth creature under an ecosystem interdependent by the relationship between context and action.
The genesis of the Sangue Novo competition is creativity and the exploration of new concepts and directions for Fashion Design. The collections of the finalists candidates are presented to the press and the public in a collective show integrated of the official calendar of ModaLisboa - Lisbon Fashion Week.
This year's edition takes place on October 7, at 6:00 pm, at Estufa Fria, in Lisbon.
From an existentialist perspective, Neo Hominidae questions the positioning of the human being as a terrestrial creature under an ecosystem interdependent by the relationship between context and action. In this way, it studies this condition based on Darwin's theory of species evolution, taking into account the physical and mental development of the species. In this medium, applied to its relationship with clothing. Morphologically, the coordinates are based in the canonical and representational study of the human body, whose manipulation of the gravitational centre of the figure forces an artificial material expansion.
