Esad at the conference of the portuguese biomechanical society

José Simões, member of the Governing Boards of ESAD and esad-idea esad-idea, and Jeremy Hugh Aston, professor and coordinator of the Degree and Masters in Product Design at ESAD and researcher at esad-idea, participated in the Conference of the Portuguese Biomechanics Society.

The Portuguese Society of Biomechanics aims to promote, disseminate and develop research in Portugal in the field of Biomechanics. Through regular congresses, the collaboration between national researchers is strengthened and student participation is encouraged, ensuring the growth and renewal of this area.

This conference aimed to respond to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advocated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development developed a common blueprint that promotes peace and prosperity for people and planet, now and in the future. There are 17 ODS, which translate into an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.

Among other prestigious speakers at the conference, Jeremy Aston presented human factors in product design from fellow researchers and Masters students, who addressed projects targeting certain SDGs. However, Jeremy Aston's participation focused on goal #9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, demonstrating design and user interfaces (occupational biomechanics) within a light rail driver's cab area. The conferences were concluded with an open discussion guided by José Simões and the president/director of the Portuguese Biomechanics Society, António Manuel Ramos.
