The students of the Degree in Jewelery 2017/18 present their works in [Portojóia - International Fair of Jewelery, Goldsmithing and Watchmaking][1], that takes place in [Exponor][2], in Matosinhos, from September 27 to 30.
The works were developed within the framework of the Elos project, coordinated by the teacher Áurea Praga.
The pieces developed in this project propose a reinterpretation of the chain of links, in the perspective of each student, taking as a frame the contemporary slope of the Jewelery area. The traditional functions of chains - tying, fastening, lifting, pulling, protecting or binding - are transferred to the context of the ornament in a symbolic way, guiding the various aspects of the construction of each piece, not only at the formal level, but also from multiple their meaning. From the first piece created, the students developed other jewelry derived from the same idea, but with different characteristics and typologies.
