Dwelling in Transition - Experiences from Lockdown is an exploratory project that proposes a reflection on the domestic space, through the collection of experiences/ reflections/ testimonies on dwelling, in the circumstance of the confinement motivated by the pandemic.
The project culminates now in an exhibition and publication that share experiences lived by all of us, in times of pandemic, based on our relationship with the house and the city. The inauguration of the exhibition and the presentation of the publication took place at ESAD, on the December 12th, at 3:00 pm, and it is open until the 3rd of february
The selected projects were based on an Open Call addressed to students of design, art and architecture and on invitations made to Alastair Fuad-Luke, Cristina Valadas, Giulio Vinaccia, Inês d'Orey, Jessica Soffiati and Gianluca Mazza, Luca Molinari, Os Espacialistas, Rita Magalhães, Rosa Alice Branco and Vânia Rovisco. The results now exhibited are diverse in format - drawings, texts, photographs, videos - and comprehensive in content, personal points of view, reflections and poetic records.
Dwelling in Transition - Experiences from Lockdown is a project by esad-idea, in partnership with ESAD - School of Arts and Design Matosinhos, the University of Madeira - Department of Arts and Design and the University of Algarve - School of Education and Communication, supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts. It also has the support of ico-D - International Council of Design, Matosinhos City Hall, Casa do Design Matosinhos, CAPC - Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra and RAR Imobiliária.

During the pandemic, we lived temporarily. We were at home, but, simultaneously, in the work spaces; at home and, simultaneously, in the company of friends at parties; at home and in the gym, without an effective physical displacement. We inhabit, transitorily, inside and outside, facing ourselves and open to the world, from and through devices that have insinuated themselves, without our noticing, in our private universe, revealing the most intimate spaces of our inhabiting and consequently of our being.
