The conference Design Objects: Musealization, Documentation and Interpretation intends to problematize the study of design in the museological context, based on the new interpretations and understandings on the theme.
The conference is organized by the Ph.D. in Museology, Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto - Department of Heritage Sciences and Techniques of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Centre Culture, Space and Memory of University of Porto together with esad–idea, Research in Design and Art.
The emergence of new questions in museology is related to the need to analyze the design object through the knowledge and evaluation of new instruments and approaches in the organization of consciousness and to understand which narratives they assume or should assume.
To contribute to the reassessment of the musealization processes practiced in this typology of objects and collections, to bring together research professionals from the fields of Museology and Design and to provide spaces for a meeting between theory and practice are some of the objectives of the conference.
Sandra Senra, Jonathan M. Woodham, Maddalena Dalla, Vasco Branco, Iva Knobloch, Maria Jose Tavares, Helen Charman, Susana Gonzaga, Bárbara Coutinmho, José Bártolo and Nuno Coelho are some of the speakers that will be present at the Design Objects Conference.
The conference is free and open to the general public and takes place on October 19 and 20, in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library Almeida Garret, Porto.
