This workshop De Stijl explored the famous blue and red Mondrian chair as part of the Post-Graduate Course in Furniture Design, investigating and reinventing it’s unique design and construction characteristics.
Originally designed and built in 1917 by Gerrit Rietveld, this chair was adopted by the De Stijl art movement lead by Piet Mondrian.
This project encouraged the students to reproduce and reinterpret the chair in their own way, respecting the use of the beech wood material and how it was joined together.
This workshop took place during ESAD OPEN WEEK 2018, under the Post Graduated Course in Furniture Design.
