The Collection Design Português, a set of 8 volumes, is an original work about the history of Portuguese design since 1900 until now.

With coordination of José Bártolo, art direction of Rute Carvalho and collaboration, among others, of Maria Helena Souto, Rui Afonso Santos, Maria João Baltazar, Victor M. Almeida, Helena Sofia Silva, Cândida Ruivo, Luís Ferreira, Joana Santos, Maria Milano, Ruben Dias, Cristina Serejo and Nuno Ladeiro, this publication describes, in circa 800 pages, the evolution of design, its context, the difference between its practices and the theoretical dialogues in turn of the institutionalization of this discipline.

Edited by ESAD and Verso da História and distributed weekly with the newspaper Público from March 24th, this publication has the support of Montepio Geral and the seal of Ano do Design Português.

The Collection Design Português will be presented at MUDE- Museu do Design e da Moda, Colecção Fransisco Capelo next Monday, March 23rd, at 17h00.

It will be presented by the publication’s coordinator, José Bártolo, coordinator and professor at ESAD and scientific director of ESAD-IDEA, and will count on the presence of several authors and a large number of designers that contribute to the collection.

Afterwards it will take place a debate entitled Design Português. Passado, Presente, Futuro. The debate will be chaired by José Bártolo and will count on the participation of José Simões, director of ESAD, Bárbara Coutinho, director of MUDE, Guta Moura Guedes, commissioner of Ano do Design Português, Bárbara Reis, director of the newspaper Público, Rita Pinho Branco, director of marketing and communication of Montepio Geral, Nuno Ladeiro, architect and designer, and Jorge Silva, designer.
