Using the exquisite corpse method, the students created an illustrated alphabet in the form of a bestiary, exploring the anatomy of the letter through the bodies of creatures inspired by popular imagery from Portuguese and Slavic culture.
The exhibition presents two alphabets printed in risography, seeking to highlight cultural references drawn from a popular imaginary perpetuated over generations, while at the same time highlighting the complexity of the visual grammars explored through drawing, photography, collage and other mixed techniques, emphasising the ambivalence between digital and analogue as a preponderant part of the creative process.
