Students of the Master’s in Product Design of collaborated with Aqua T3, a Portuguese brand of innovative hand washing and disinfection equipment.
The contact with companies and the experience between designer and consumer plays an important role preparing students of the Master’s in Product Design for the labour market and the realities of product design services for business and industry.
The Aqua T3 challenged students to design an automatic/touchless tap for the residential market, dispensing soap, water, hand-gel disinfectant, and in some cases, hot air to dry hands.
The students visited the company's factory and spent time with the engineers to understand the technology behind the product. Afterwards, they have proceeded with the design process, investigating, exploring and iterating new concepts.
All students achieved the project objectives by proposing innovative and original design concepts for potential future applications.
Without doubt, the most unusual and innovative projects, futuristic, intuitive and with very attractive designs. In some cases, high production costs could be a challenge, but for the luxury residential market, this factor could become practically irrelevant. In general, the students' work was very complete, showing not only the design, but also the placement of the internal components within the product. Excellent work! – Aqua T3
