Professor Norman Cherry is Head of the Birmingham School of Jewellery in England, UK. One of his particular interests over many years has been investigating the application of textile techniques to jewellery and metalwork. In his presentation he will discuss how he first became interested in this area, how historical research informed some of his thinking, how ideas are generated and developed, how other projects influenced new ideas, and how his work in textile techniques ultimately led him into new projects.
